Helpful Health and Social Care!

Our big hearted Health and Social Care students were treated to a very special visit this week from the British Heart Foundation’s very own Miss Hearty! The students were taught how to deliver CPR in the event of an emergency. The Call, Push, Rescue campaign by the BHF was close to the students’ hearts as they have been learning about coronary heart disease as part of their unit on physiological disorders. The students worked incredibly hard learning what to do, how to stay calm and how to effectively deliver lifesaving CPR.

Lecturer Alexis Gibson said ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for students to get hands on experience in gaining a potentially life saving skill that will stay with them for many years. The students worked hard to gain their certification and this is a wonderful addition to have for any UCAS statement or CV. We give our heartfelt thanks to the BHF for helping us achieve such a session.’

Student Ella Cheesely said ‘ This was one of the best lessons ever’
