New apprentices settle in at Cirencester College

It has been a busy time of the year for the apprenticeship team, with over 30 new apprentices having joined the College for the training element of their apprenticeships.

At Cirencester College, apprentices are recruited onto programmes throughout the year, however, the Autumn sees more students starting the next chapter of their lives in employment.  Over the next twelve months, the new recruits will work for four days with their employers, attending day release at College to complete their full apprenticeship programme.

Cirencester College specialises in professional and management apprenticeships, this year the College has apprentices from a variety of different workplaces throughout Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.  These include Primary Schools, Financial and Legal Organisations, IT Companies and Creative Design Agencies.

Ian McLarty, who leads the apprenticeship team, said “We are delighted to welcome these new apprentices to Cirencester College and more importantly to help them on their way in their new careers.

The spotlight nationally is increasingly falling on apprenticeships as a means to attract talent, develop skills and retain staff.  They are a cost-effective way for both small and large-scale employers to invest in the future of their businesses. The employers we work with are increasingly offering further progression routes through higher-level apprenticeships or alternative apprenticeships.  We are delighted that Cirencester College is playing such a key role in supporting both our young people and the growth agenda in our area.”
