More success for badminton players at AOC finals

Following last years outstanding gold medal from Andy Ferris and Andrew Jones at the AOC national finals in Badminton, this year 3 badminton players and two tennis players represented the College at the finals which took place at the impressive Nottingham University Campus.

Badminton Report
This year Andrew Ferris was appointed as the team manager of team West Midlands and our wonderful record of medals continued following last year’s success. We were very hopeful with Rosie Postlewhite (singles), Leasha John and Nichole Titchener (girls doubles). The competition was especially intense with our rivals the South West being in the same initial group. Matches were incredibly close with one vital encounter coming down to the final against the East Midlands which was won on one point in the final set 20 -19 taking us through to the semi final stages where we achieved a bronze medal or third place in the UK losing only to the eventual winners the South East 3-2. Both Leasha and Nichole leave us this year having competed superbly for the badminton team over the last few years, Leasha and Nichole both intend to continue to play at their respective universities next year.

Tennis Report
Chris James managed the West Midlands tennis team this year. Elliott Kami and Matthew Daniels took part in the boys doubles where they won 3 and lost 3 matches. The standard of play was at an exceptionally high level this year with London and the South East teams being dominant. No medals here but some superb play from both our players who progress to universities where alongside their studies they will continue to focus on tennis.
