Alex Worrall wins Young Enterprise South West Student Journey Award

Congratulations to Young Enterprise student Alex Worrall who has recently been awarded the Young Enterprise South West Student Journey Award.

Alex, a first year student from Highworth is currently studying on a Level 2 Business programme. To complement his business course Alex chose to join Young Enterprise and together with a group of students formed a company called Ultimate Drive Guide. Ultimate Drive Guide developed a really successful app which was fully designed and manufactured by the team.  The app assists new drivers who have recently passed their driving test, if they get into difficulties. Which might be in the case of an emergency, the app will connect the driver straight through to the emergency and breakdown services, even when they have no internet.  The app which costs 99p has given lots of drivers peace of mind, helpful tips and videos such as how to change a tyre.

Hannah Ash, who leads Young Enterprise at Cirencester College and nominated Alex for the award said, “I have had the pleasure of seeing a shy, under confident student flourish into a focused, motivated and outgoing individual who is no longer afraid to achieve his goals. What impresses me about Alex is that he has never given up – even when other members of the team were losing focus he would bring them back round. I hardly recognise the Alex I met in September compared to the one I see now. His team work, commitment and problem solving skills have shone through.  He fully deserves this recognition!”

Alex is now through to the UK National Finals in London on 6 July as one of only 3 Young Enterprise students in the country, we wish him all the best in the finals!
