Cirencester College kick-started their rugby season with a victory over Cokethorpe School, Witney in the Nat West Under 18’s Cup. With only 2 training sessions under their belt, Cirencester fielded a squad of 25 players with a vast number of these new to the college.
After a shaky start, Cirencester conceded an early try against the run of play, however the tone was set by stand-in captain Sean Beech with an emphasis on composure. Cirencester struck back with a try from the powerful running of Centre Josh Daley-Bowden, the conversion was added by Rhys Higginson.
A number of new players stepped up and made themselves seen with notable performances from dynamic flanker Max Regan and second row Sean Pritchard-Nash. The front row dominated the scrums including strong performances from Alex Brice and Jake Keary.
A further try converted try from Max Regan ensured that the home team extended their lead to take the game out of reach from the visitors to win 12-10.
