Another fantastic year for the Cirencester College football teams!

The wins keep coming for Cirencester College’s Football Academy team,  who have once again had a great start to the season, leading the AOC (Association of Colleges) Category 2 League, which they won last year in their final match against Worcester College.

Playing in their new kits supplied by Batemans Sports of Stroud, the team have been going from strength to strength including recently beating Hartpury College 1-0.   The second team are also having a great season,  winning 15-1 against Stratford-upon-Avon in the AOC Men’s Knockout Cup.  Three of the players Josh Ukoha, Luke Jones and Joe Williams are representing Gloucestershire County in their Under 18 team.

Coach Dan Wixey said: “All the students representing the academy are thriving academically as well as performing well on the field.  The emphasis at Cirencester College is very much on both student achievement and athletic skill and several players are currently looking at progression on to university both in the UK and overseas.”

Coach Nick Peare added: “For our new training programme we are utilising the excellent facilities at the Royal Agricultural University and the new 4G pitch at Cirencester Town.   This year, for the first time, we have been working with semi-professional footballer and ex-student, Eddie Jones at the Catalyst Gym in Cirencester, who has been working on strength and conditioning with the players. All this extra support is showing in their performance on the pitch and means that football is still very much alive at the College.”
