Local MP chats with Politics students

Politics Students at Cirencester Sixth Form College hosted a question time for Stroud MP David Drew to find out more about his views on a range of issues.

These included climate change, housing policy, how we can encourage more people to become engaged in Politics and whether the voting age should be lowered to 16. For the ten students that participated, it was an excellent opportunity to gain a greater understanding of local and national politics and to put their studies into a real life context.

Politics Lecturer Nicola Eagleton commented “They were impressed by his knowledge and experience and now have a clearer understanding of the work of an MP. Many of the students who met with David live in his constituency and as such, they were very interested in his opinions and work at a local level, including housing problems for young people and rural affairs.”
