Former IT students visit the College to talk about apprenticeships!

Former BTEC IT students James Lloyd and Tom Fisher returned to College this week to talk to current IT students about choosing an apprenticeship when they leave College.

Both high achieving students left the College last summer to take up their apprenticeship in September. Tom gaining three distinction stars in his BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT and similarly James gained two distinction stars and a distinction.  Tom and James both applied to the degree apprenticeship programme at Nationwide in May last year and went through a rigorous interview process before successfully being accepted onto the course.

James said, ‘When I was accepted in early June that day possibly ranks as the happiest I’ve ever been, my first day at Nationwide was on 4 September 2017”  James is working in the main team working on the Nationwide Middleware, James  spends one day a week on his the studies as part of his degree in Digital Technology Solutions which will take him four years to complete.

Similarly Tom’s position involves him working on Level 1 Day support and as an Incident Analyst whilst also studying his Degree Apprenticeship at university.  Both Tom and James both came through the Career Ready programme at Cirencester Sixth Form College where give them access to a summer internship, a business mentor and talks and guidance from employers.
