Horse Care students hold their annual show

First year Horse Care students recently showcased their horse presentation skills at the College’s Three Oaks Farm annual show.

Second year students facilitated the show as part of their Event Planning module, which tested the first years on their grooming, plaiting, and correctly showing a horse in-hand.

Student Mollie Davis was placed first overall for her presentation of New Forest pony ‘Freddie,’ with Eloisa Mundy and Paige Breen awarded runners-up with horses ‘Lucy’ and ‘Stormburst.’

Students were judged in three different categories: sports horses, native types and ex-racehorses – with each category requiring a demanding and unique presentation.

Elosia came top of her class for her magnificent display of Irish horse Lucy in the sports category whilst Paige’s hard work with Stormburst, earned her the title in the racehorse class. Mollie then won the native breed category and was placed first overall.
