Two of our A-level students studying Classic Civilisations recently took part in a work experience placement at the Corinium Museum in Cirencester.
Oliver Turney and Mckenzie King both study the Classical Civilisations A-level at College, and completed a weeks’ work experience in February. All students are encouraged to do some kind of work experience placement during their time with us, in the hope that it gives them a realistic example of working life and also makes them stand apart from others on job or university applications.
Oliver and Mckenzie both have an interest in History, specifically Mythology, and were encouraged by the museum staff to create a highlights tour for visitors on the theme ‘Gods, Goddesses and Myths’. The students were given access to the museum library, which helped to support their classroom studies.
The students said: “This opportunity has been both entertaining and eye-opening for us both as we intend to carry on our Classical studies to higher education. We feel that has been a successful and productive work experience opportunity and plan to return in future to experience different roles within the Corinium team.”
